Tunkinskaya Valley, Arshan, Russia.

Allow me to begin by advising you that it is quite a drive to Arshan. Depending on traffic, it is a two hour drive from Slyudyanka. For reasons unknown to me, I had assumed it was a relatively short drive from Slyudyanka (our starting point) to Arshan. I had mistakenly gotten that impression from Google Maps which unmistakenly and very clearly (in hindsight) show it is a long drive. So IF you have the time, and IF you have the desire to drive to Arshan, you will pass through the Tunkinskaya Valley. In your trip you will leave the Irkutsk Oblast and pass into Buryatia. I have posted photos of this boundary line. In 20-20 hindsight, I am happy to have made this trip. But I will not repeat it. Once is enough for yours truly.
