Beautiful place

Really lovely part of the world. For foreigners it's a bit of a pain to get the paperwork done as you need an extra border pass but this part of the Altai Republic is really beautiful. Assuming you've got the pass, these lakes are easily accessible - you can get a bus from Gorno Altaisk to za Multa and then book on one of the monster trucks to get down the dirt road which leads there (which is an adventure in itself) There are three lakes, each a walk apart. The middle lake is accessed by walking round the lower one (about an hour and a half) and the upper lake is about a three or four hour walk from the middle lake. Most people who do that walk get a speedboat across the first lake to save time. There's a camp site around the lower lake, along with wooden huts. It's surprisingly peaceful and really lovely. There's also the opportunity to do other hikes and also do horse riding.
