Taishan Geological Park, Shandong, China

4.5 (150 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Tai'an National Parks

Superlative

Words cannot describe this place and you have to see it for yourself. It is the "Number One" mountain and one of the holiest. Be careful of strong winds near the summit as it can blow you off your feet.

    China's #1 Mountain
It's not the tallest mountain in China, that's for sure, but it's known as the #1 of the 5 sacred mountains in China. People have recognized the spiritual connection of this place for 30 centuries or so. Chinese people love it and travel to see it in huge numbers. It's not as famous for foreigners. Taoists, Buddhists, followers of Confuscius, and people who appreciate the ancient religions of China, all flock to Taishan, especially during national holidays. It's a challenging hike up over 7,000 stone stairs, steep and narrow near the top, but the temples and the views of nature may be well worth it. Taishan is in the middle of Shandong Province, on the east coast of China, and there are far fewer foreign influences here than in international cities in China such as Dalian, but you can find a KFC in Taian, at the foot of Taishan, if you look long and hard enough.

Awesome hike to the top of the mountain
If you go there I advise to climb from the bottom to the top of the mountain even though there are more than 6000 steps...You will pass close to many temples, places to drink tea or eat some food. Local people may also appreciate your effort taking some photos with you.
