Great for a walk or cruise on the lake

I parked the car in a lay by near one of the ferry landings (down from the marine barracks) and dropped into a cafe next to the jetty for a curry wurst and beer to get me ready for a walk to Plon. The walk and views are scenic with the castle in the background - guess it took me about 40mins to get into town. There's a good choice of restaurants and cafes in Plon if you need refreshment before walking back. Decided to walk along the road on the return journey as it was quicker and stopped at a handy mini market shop as I saw it sold regional maps. You can cruise the lake on a passenger boat and I believe it takes in a few of the adjoining lakes. All very tranquil - just a pity it was a dull day.

    Relaxed vacationing area
    This is a lovely lake. Largest in Northern Germany. Well suited for some family fun. The lake is clean and not very deep. Water temp is warm in the summer. Bug thing is canoeing. Make sure you rent a canoe and circle Prinzeninsel, then head for Plön, canoe through the city and use Stadtsee and Kleiner Plöner See back into Schwentine for the big lake again. Fun trip of 2.5 hours straight canoeing with lots of chances for a fun stop. Get a drink at Seeprinz in Plön or buy ice cream in the city while leaving you canoe in the harbor. On the Kleiner Plöner See you can canoe right up to a good fast food place. There is also a pleasure motor boat offering cruises. Have fun.

    Beautiful lake area
    I come from here - I love this area - it is beautiful! It is good for people in all ages...you can walk along the lake, you can make a boat-trip (5-Seen-Fahrt), cycling, swimming, ...there are many lakes around and in Plön city there are some nice restaurants and cafés to stop by and have a break :-)
