Racer Cave Tour, Sarawak, Malaysia

Nice beginner/intermediate underworld trip!

The Racer Cave tour is an adventure caving tour suitable for beginners. It's an around 3 hour trip into the dark depths of the Racer Cave and back (on the same way). At some points inside the cave you will need to climb on fixed ropes and there is also a little squeeze which might get problematic for very voluminous persons. If you are lucky you will be able to see Racer Snakes inside the cave. The tour costs 160 ringgit per person, all equipment included (helmet, headlamp, harness). After completing this trip successfully you are qualified for the advanced Clearwater Connection caving tour which is the caving highlight of the Mulu National Park.

    Great adventure
This is a relatively short tour but includes a good introduction to adventure caving. Be prepared to squeeze through tight passages, crawl, jump, and pull yourself up on ropes. Headlights and helmets are provided. Also be prepared to get intimate with hand sized spiders, millipedes, snakes, scorpions and bats. If you are thin and fit and have a sense of adventure, this is for you.

    Absolutely amazing!
What an amazing route! This isn't a showcave, so there's no lights and no walkways. There's a bit of easy rock climbing on very slippery rock, and a few tight spaces. We all switched out headlamps off at one point just to experience the absolute darkness - which was insane! The guides are very knowledgeable and informative, and the price is very reasonable all things considered. If you are scared of the dark, tight spaces, snakes, centipedes or spiders - probably not for you (or do it anyway and challenge your fears). I went in December 2018, but they don't let you backdate reviews that far.
