Playa Rincon and Cano Frio Las Galeras, Samana

Gorgeous crystal clear river with cold water that runs into the ocean. It is located in Playa Rincon and the trip from the town of Samana is about an hour ride through small towns and along the peninsula with beautiful scenery. The road runs through a mountain that allows gorgeous view of the cliffs that are covered with lush green, unspoiled jungle lined with thousands of coconut trees. Once you arrive at Playa Rincon, take a right and follow the road for about 3 minutes and it dead end in Cano Frio. There you can enjoy vendors that prepare fresh cooked fish, fried plantains, rice, beer, rum, coke at decent prices. I would suggest arriving around 9 in the morning since the place will get very crowded. There is no fee to enjoy the river or the beach! Highly recommended! Ah, you can drive there, the road is paved until you reach the beach and then you can drive to the river, no need for a 4x4.

Beautiful Place to relax.
Caño Frío as in Cold River is located in Samaná near Playa Rincón, the river is cold but it has clean, clear waters and white sands. It's a virgin área, no hotels or resorts, most people get to the place in a tour while in Samana or you can drive to it if you know the way. This area has the river meeting the sea and it's a beautiful place to relax, bath and admire nature, you can place one foot in the river and another on the sea. There's local food and small gift shop in the area but the best part is just relaxing and bathing in Caño Frío or the beach in front of it. Like I said is near Playa Rincon, most hotels in Samana include this location with the ATV tours, the locals in the are are not pushy. There's also boats which take you up the river for 200 Dominican Pesos I believe if you have the time. Just go there and enjoy this place, like I said, it's just to relax and disconnect for at least 1 or 2 hours.
