Levera Pond, Saint Patrick Parish, Grenada

Peaceful Place to View Wildlife

The entrance to Levera Pond is about half-way between Bathway Beach and Levera Beach on the Bathway-Levera Road. Heading north on that road, you'll see a sign for the pond and a roped staircase leading to the west, down into the forest. Follow this path for a short distance and you'll arrive at the observation tower on the pond's shoreline. Along the trail, several of the trees have signs on them identifying the species, including several types of Mangrove. The observation tower has two levels where you can look out over the pond and spot the waterfowl living in the area. This place would be of most interest to bird watchers, but I found it to be a peaceful, relaxing place to stroll in the shade. When I visited in December, there was no problem with insects.

    Nice & quiet
I stopped here on my way to Levera Beach. The pond is an easy 3-minute walk off the main road. At the end of the path there is a wooden platform and a watchtower with nice views over the pond. The whole place is very quiet and tranquil, with plenty of bird life surrounding you. I also enjoyed the spooky-looking mangroves. I did not detect any mosquitos but they might be a problem at certain times of the year. It is certainly worth a short stop whether on the way to or from Levera Beach but there is not much to do here unless you are an avid birder.

    Nice trail to Pond
Nice walk from Levere Beach (security guards on beach will keep watch on your car). Through forest to pond that has observation tower and deck. Heard herons here. Very nice.
