On the way back.......hopefully!

Spent a morning here, return taxi fare 150 MYR. It was a bit disappointing, but there were some amazing (to me) animals. The majority of the enclosures appeared satisfactory to my amateur eye. My understanding is that the majority of the animals and birds have been 'rescued' but having too much contact with humans, would not survive in the wild. If this is true, surely this is a good thing? I especially enjoyed the elephants and to my mind they have an excellent enclosure. Another highlight for me were the Borneo Gibbons, I spent a long time watching them and listening to them 'sing' Really noisy! The one Tiger appeared to be in excellent condition. The signage could be better. There are a lot of empty and roped off enclosures They really need to reopen the cafeteria......... Entry for a non Malaysian was a mere 20 MYR

    Much better than exptected
After reading all the negative reviews we went there with very low expectations. We drove there with a rental car and arrived on a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. The park was very empty / only 4 cars on the car park. Entrance was only 20 ringit/person. We walked through the park for 1,5 hrs without seeing a single other visitor (!). It was a great experience and like a private location. Especially in the botanical garden section we felt really like in the borneo jungle - because nobody was there. The animals have IMHO quite big cages (even bigger than in most German / European zoos which i have seen). And on every cage there were big signs reminding the visitors not to disturb the animals unnecessarily by knocking glass windows etc. Only the area for the smallest bears should be a bit better and contain some shelter or hiding space for the bears. Conclusion: much better than expected and should be supported by visiting Advise; if you go there by grab it might be hard to get one back from there = better arrange your return upfront in order to avoid getting overcharged by local taxis
