Great Expierence

I did the Bukit Piton Tour, which I can totally recommend. We have seen a lot of wildlife (7 orang utans, lots of macaques and 2 slow loris at night) and the guide and spotters did a really great job. The meal served as dinner in the lodge was great. Much more than I would have expected. The lodge itself is very basic, but it's ok. And they have an absolutely cute cat in the lodge.

Great wildlife safari and contribute to the forest
Bukit Piton is a special place. Being a secondary forest, it is a lot easier to spot animals there. Barely half an hour in this reserve and we had already seen the resident elephant Jimbo, 2 orang utangs and red leaf monkeys. And things got even better at the long night drive, where we saw several flying squirrels, a flying lemur, slow loris, civet cats, all sorts of birds - some sleeping on the long grass - and even a few leopard cats. We overnighted in the forest where we stayed with a family of forest caretakers. It is a basic accommodation without electricity and no glass in the window, but it is certainly the real jungle experience, with the sounds of the forest lulling you to sleep. The lack of a fan had us a little worried at first, but the forest cools down at night and we didn’t miss the fan. What makes this place extra special, is that the visitors can be a part in the restoration of this forest by planting some trees. We highly enjoyed this, knowing these trees will be cared for for 3 years and will become fruit bearing trees so the animals will have food. If you want a good chance of seeing wild animals far from the beaten track, this is a place worth visiting.
