Super SUP

Rutland Water covers 4,200 acres of open countryside. The park offers everything from walking and cycling to fishing and watersports. There is also our fantastic nature reserve, managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust and home to the Rutland Osprey Project. Expert or novice, everything you need to make the most of your visit is right here, including cycle hire and expert tuition on boat handling. And of course, you will also find a choice of places to enjoy a cuppa or a bite to eat.

    Thoroughly enjoyable !
Hired ' Hybrid ' Bikes for myself and 2 daughters to ride from Normanton ( anti-clockwise ) around Rutland Water ( exc Hambleton Peninsula ) .... having planned to do it since before the Pandemic ! Thoroughly enjoyable ,although the 2nd half of the Trip is more demanding with more Hills and Woodland Tracks . Stopped for Lunch at the Horse and Jockey ,Manton, which was very good value for money , good service and a nice place to sit outside in the sunshine and rest the legs ! Finished up back at Normanton with an Ice-Cream on the Cafe Balcony .......all very enjoyable ,although being there for just over 5 Hrs incurred a Parking charge of £10.00, which i thought a bit steep . Would be o/k for a full Day ,but a bit steep for just over 5 hrs . Big surprise was that it was all far less busy than we thought it would be for a Sunday in June all the way around , which made it more pleasant ......but have seen it extremely busy on a warm Summer Sunday in the past .

Very attractive man-made water feature with cruise available
We have spent two holidays in this area - obviously you keep encountering Rutland Water. This time we took the cruise on board the "Rutland Belle" from Whitwell to Normanton and back (fare £11 each for the return). The views from the lake are quite spectacular in places but the Highlight is mooring close to Normanton Church which stands alone above the water line and is a beautiful church building. At Whitwell there is a cafe and an ice cream stall. Car parking is payable. The Water is a must-see attraction in this area.
