Nice short stop on a longer trip
So you’re out there fahr’n fahr’n fah’n on the Auotobahn, you need a rest stop, kids are getting cranky, it’s a beautiful part of Germany that you’re not getting much out of - so take a break. Less than 10 minutes off the A3 between Koeln and Koblenz stop to find out where all that beautiful old German blue salt pottery comes from, why the Rheinland Pflaz is known for high quality ceramics, get some fresh air, have a coffee and let the kids take a look at something besides the screen. The well-lighted airy museum has historical exhibits about digging clay, making and firing ceramics, pots through the ages, dishware from utilitarian to fine art, plus an audio tour that explains it all a very short space and time. Lots of video, interviews, plus very informative staff willing to explain everything you might want to ask about the exhibits. Cafe upstairs, kid friendly, playground out back.
