Mustard lover's paradise

This is really small museum (only one room) with 30 minutes guided tour in German with English flyer and its store twice size bigger. Cost 2.50 euros per person, open daily 10am - 6 pm. But... you will see is one of the oldest mustard's mills (c.1810) of its kind still operating in Europe. They produce outstanding mustards, using only natural spices and following selected and historical recipes. In store (which attached to the museum room) you can try approx. 15 kinds of mustards (testing is free). You like a mustard with plum, honey, apple, etc? Welcome to buy! We chose a 15th century recipe for a mustard with garlic. And the secret shared with us by the store employee - after opening a jar of mustard, it doesn't need to be put in the fridge and it has a shelf life of 2 years !!

Worth a Visit if You Love Mustard
We didn't have time to do the tour of the museum, but a staff member gave us a very gracious and interesting mustard tasting experience in English. They have a wide variety of mustard flavors and we picked up as much as we thought we could fit in our luggage without going over the weight limit! :-) To be honest, it is a little touristy, but definitely worth it if you like mustard. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Mustard tasting room under a convenient parking garage
There are good reasons to visit here. First because you like mustard. Second because it’s on the ground level below a public parking garage that is quite convenient for visiting the center of Cochem which is a great place. That said, you wouldn’t call a wine tasting room room historic or a museum. There is no reason to think this is more than a mustard tasting room. Sample some different mustard, get a sausage (bockworst) and then walk to the water for downtown. The other direction will take you to the chair lift to the top of the hill. Conveniently located if you’re looking for parking and a sausage. Don’t go searching for it for the museum or the history.
