Gemstone Museum Idar-Oberstein
Absolutely fabulous a must visit if for all gemstone afficionados especially Gemologists. They have 3 floors of minerals, gemstones and carvings. Some of the best specimens you will ever see. The exhibits change regularly to keep it fresh.

Nice little museum with an adequate price.
The access is quite easy as there are multiple parkings not far away from the museum. The entry fee is 7€ per person (March 2016) and it really is not too expensive for all the gems you are about to see. It got a wide range of gems, minerals but also historic emblems, sigils and other trinkets. The information given is sufficient to provide background information, the balance is right, you never feel like you are being overwhelmed by informations. We finished it in 90 minutes, I guess you could rush and finish in 30 and I believe you could stay for a maximum of 2-3 hours if you really read everything and watch the videos.
