Yacht Port Cartagena, Region of Murcia, Spain

4.5 (71 reviews) Spent Ranking #18 in Municipality of Cartagena Marinas

Convenient location!

Our ship had docked at Pier Alfonso XII Cruise Terminal in the natural harbor of Cartagena. This important harbor was established as a major naval center by the Carthaginians in 227 BC. Cartagena was a booming place during the Roman period. Today the harbor is still a busy port and important naval base, capital of the Spanish Navy’s Maritime Department of the Mediterranean since the Spanish Bourbons in the 18th century, but from our vantage point all we could see were hundreds of masts of pleasure boats anchored cheek and jowl. With more than 3,000 hours of sun a year and mild year round temperatures, it’s no wonder this is a popular destination.

    Beautiful
A really great, well positioned port for walking into the old city. The city is very beautiful and vibrant. There was an interesting local parade happening with vintage cars and locals in costume. Fabulous.

    Nice esplanade
Very nice place to walk as it is very wide and borders the port and the old city. The breeze is superb and the views majestic. So many yachts in the port, and you may be able to see a cruise liner also.
