Bamboo raft trip down Rio La Vieja

Wonderful trip for 11 of my family members on a bamboo raft on Rio La Vieja. I travelled with 11 people. Three of them ages 5, 3 and 18 months. Trip included Willy's jeep transportation from the main office to the dock and back, life vests, two guides and a delicious lunch (Fiambra which is rice, chicken, potato and plantain wrapped and cooked in a plantain leaf). Not a morsel was left at the end of lunch. Trip involves approximately a five hour trip down river on Rio La Vieja on a bamboo raft. Very safe. Half way down the river you stop, and have the option of visiting a waterfall for a small fee ($2000 col. pesos). Spectacular!!!

    Relaxing float
We were a group of 50 with about 5 boats. There's big tubs to put your shoes ( for a small hike later on) jackets, electronics etc. From there you float for about two hours then take a coffee break.. Then we get to picnic tables. You have the choice of hiking (wear shoes but bring sandals to walk into the fall) up to a beautiful waterfall or just sit to eat lunch. The waterfall is worth it! From there it's about another 3 hours... You can watch for monkeys, hummingbirds and iguanas. The guides let you know when you can jump into the river and float. Don't drink the River water, it is contaminated. Great experience, loved everything about it :)
