Great Staff, Great Service, Great Entertainment & Authentic Experiences

On a recent visit to Longreach I was able to take part in the Captain Starlights Sunset Cruise and Dinner, the Cobb & Co Stage Coach Experience and also visit the Station Store, The Stables (hotel) and have a meal with Outback Pioneers. All the staff and the Kinnon Family members who took part in providing the tours, the theatre and shows and giving a real authentic outback experience made for a wonderful Longreach trip. The effort the Kinnon family have gone to replicate the historic look and feel of the outback pioneers and their stories allows travellers a chance to learn, experience and enjoy this great region even better.

A Reminder of the Pioneering Spirit
I had the pleasure of doing two of the trips Outback Pioneers offers - Nogo station tour with a light lunch provided and the Sunset Paddle steamer cruise down the Thompson River. On both occasions Jeremy was the coach driver and guide. Jeremy gave us a guided tour of Longreach while picking up customers and had a lot of witty comments and jokes. On the Sunset trip after a trip down the Thompson on the Pride of the Murray (brought up from Echuca) Steve recited some poems and jokes. A very entertaining chap. A stockman's dinner of mashed potato, beef casserole, (beef was so tender and tasty) slice of buttered bread, followed with apple pie, custard and cream. A short movie on Captain Starlight, followed by damper with golden syrup, and billy tea or coffee. I will happily redo these trips on my next tour back through the area. For the early birds you can also get a smorgasbord breakfast at the office in mainstreet from 6.30 am. It was a great start to the Nogo Station trip.

    Sunset Cruise on Thomson River
We did the Cruise on the Thomson River at Longreach at sunset and it was magical. After the cruise we had dinner of stew, damper and apple slice with custard. The dinner was great and the show where the gentleman told stories and jokes was enthralling and then there was the light show about Captain Starlight. I would recommend this cruise as a must do and book ahead..
