Not your average petting zoo :)
During our recent vacation to PEI, our family visited Island Hill Farm and we had a great experience! I have to admit that I was initially hesitant to go because I thought it would just be a petting zoo and may be too young for my 8 year old son, but I was very wrong. We all loved it here (even us adults!). There are a large amount of different goats and you are able to freely go into any of the pens to pet them (except the pens with the ponies and donkey). They are all so sweet. Unlike many "petting zoos", visitors do not feed the goats here, which is why they are so gentle with everyone since they don't expect or look for food. In the barn, there are more animals to see and they even have baby bunnies that you can hold (this was a definite highlight for everyone!). We were also able to pet the older rabbits and even the pigs. The animals are clearly loved and very well cared for. We arrived early at opening so it wasn't busy and it felt like we had lots of time to explore without crowds of people. We also checked out the cafe on site and ordered sandwiches for lunch. The grilled cheese sandwich was absolutely delicious. It is prepared on fresh bread that was perfectly toasted and served with a creamy tomato dip - I didn't think I could get that excited over a grilled cheese but it was honestly fantastic and hit the spot. The staff are phenomenal - Farmer Flory, the owner, stopped to chat with us for a few minutes and shared her story. The staff working in the barn were also so great - they were very kind with the kids and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!

Our favorite place on PEI since 2013
My husband and I have been in love with Island Hill Farm since they opened in 2013. We have come every year since, first with our children and now as 60-somethings. It truly is a place for all ages. Each year feels like a wonderful new experience, but one thing that never changes is the welcoming and informative staff! They truly love what they do and it shows. If you just look at an animal, someone is right there asking if you want to handle it, telling you everything you need to know about the animal, and answering any questions. The staff are extremely approachable and friendly, and even know the names of all the animals and can tell you about their individual personalities and quirks. And there aren’t just goats at the farm. You’ll meet miniature horses, alpacas, a cow and donkey, sheep, bunnies, pigs, and hens. One of our favorite things to do is bottle feeding the baby goats, which you can sign up for at 3 different feeding times a day. We highly recommend visiting Island Hill Farm on PEI. Each time you come will feel like a whole new experience; and their cafe truly does serve the best coffee on the island.
