    Ski resort in summer
The town of Tatranska Lomnica and the attractions they have are addressed mainly to skiers. But we got there in August and it's still plenty to do without your skis. Most of cable cars are running throughout the whole year. So we were hoping to use one of them to get to the Lomnicky stit - one of the highest peaks in Tatra mountains. But what we didn't know before we got there - that's the only one cable car (or lanovka) that you have to book in advance, it is so popular even if it is so expensive. There's only one car on that lifts, taking about 30 people at one go, and it takes a long while for the round journey. And this is very expensive. But there're much cheaper options available at the same ticket office. You can buy tickets to Skalnate Pleso and even further up, to Lomnicke Sedlo (Lomnica Pass). Ticket offices are in the main building right at the huge car park. Having your tickets (tickets are for the direction no matter which option you choose, so you don't have to specify while buying tickets) you got two options: a cable car or a chair lift - both start from approximately the same area, and both will take you to an intermediate station called Start. From there another cable car to Skalnate Pleso. And from Skalnate Pleso another chair lift going accross a rocky valley takes you to Lomnica Pass - this part of the journey can only be booked as a return journey, as Tatra National Park rules don't allow to walk in mountains without a marked path, and there's only a short marked path on Lomnica Pass. So you have to take chair lift back down to Skalnate Pleso. But from there you are free to do whatever you want, and we walked down on combination of marked paths. And the Skalnate Pleso area provides all sorts of services, from fast food to accommodation.

    Expensive but WORTH IT
The day before going up the cable we agreed to wait for the morning and check if there's a cloud on top of the mountain. We were lucky to see blue skies but were unfortunate to still have a cloud at the top by the time we got there... We bought the tickets for the way back and forth Lomnicky Stit (the top of the mountain). The tickets were expensive (39 EUR / person) and included 3 cable cars, one 880-1100m, 1100-1700m (16 EUR total and brings you also to a nice place in the middle, were you can go for some hiking around a lake or to go on the marked hiking roads). The last cable is as scary as hell, 1700-2600m with only one cable car and very steep climb of about 10 minutes. It gives you the feeling of going up into the clouds and into the unknown... NOT RECOMMENDED IT YOU'RE AFRAID OF HEIGHTS as the cable car is hanged on a hundreds meters high cable! (23 EUR, very nice attraction if you love snow, even when the cloud is located on the top of the mountain). When we got upstairs we could already see snow (which was an attraction for us, Israelis :) ) and were very happy to spend some time there, even with the cloud surrounding and the small, fenced area to which we could go. Coffee shop is available on top.
