My favorite trail in St Lucie County
This is, by far, one of the best trails in St. Lucie County. The Red Otter trail runs along the river, and is stunning. There are even dips and peaks in the elevation along the river. The Orange scrub Jay trail can be a soggy mess, but it sure is fun when it's muddy. Gopher tortoises and love this trail, and otters love the canal and river. If you're along the canal side, directly across the little dam is a tortoise den near the top of the hill. There's another on the opposite side, on the Sandhill crane trail.

Natural park in a neighborhood along the St. Lucie River
Well maintained and maked trails. Interesting Eco-Center. Bring the kids. Comfortable walks for 70 yr olds vary from 0.5 mile to about 2 miles. Benches placed appropriately for a brief rest as needed.
