Oak Hammock Park, Florida, United States

4.5 (22 reviews) Spent Ranking #8 in Port Saint Lucie Parks • Playgrounds

Hard to find, but worth it

Large natural area with variety of habitats. Hidden in a quiet residential area, fronts a substantial creek with a boat launch. Playground for the kiddies. There's a couple of nice hiking trails, with some wooded areas and some open areas. A drinking fountain would be nice. There is a local legend/mystery about the place, but no info is available on site.

    Beautiful Quiet Park
Yes this park is a bit hard to find but, once you're there and park your car. It's a great place to get out and walk through the trails and have some piece and quiet. It even has a pavilion with picnic tables and a playground for kids to play. Hiking through the trails can be challenging if you're not paying attention where you're walking. Anyone who wants to see the massive 200 year old oak tree, after arriving at the park, walk along the river and take the second trail on your left. After visiting the tree, walk back the same way you came from to get back to the parking lot. Please be respectful to the history and legends behind the tree. DO NOT TOUCH or ATTEMPT to take a piece of bark of the tree. I was just there a couple weeks ago and you can feel the energy from the tree from the past events that has happened in the 70's. I've captured strange sounds in my EVP's. That's all I'm going to say. Remember, this park does close at dusk so be respectful and do not attempt to trespass and take videos or photos at night. The police patrol the area at night. If you just want to go somewhere quiet and don't live far away, I recommend on visiting this place during the day. The view of the lake from the trail is beautiful. Please spray yourself with bug repellant, lots of mosquitos in the trails.
