Beautiful landscape
Nice place, small lake, romantic surrounding landscape of green hills/vineyards/mountains. You can rent a small boat (or a pedaló/kayak) , have a walk or enjoy coffee/restaurants. Some small campings, beautiful with bike, the reconstructed pile dwellings can be visited freely, the blue cold water. Better to avoid swimming. Shame about the noisy and polluting motors batches.

Discover this jewel!
Of all the places you could choose in Northern Italy, this one, is not to be missed! Just about 20 km south west of the town of Biella, there is so much history of the Lago di Viverone with its surrounding colline moreniche and archeological sites. When driving up from "Castello di Roppolo", the landscape magically open to a stunnign view of the lake and surrounding hills. On the right side, there are vineyards and charming small hilltop villages such as Roppolo, Piverone and on into the "Canavese" and la Serra. Having lived abroad for over 20+, as an Italian, I have always been highly selective and, I must admit, critical of Italy, I grew up in an agricultural and boring area of this region, Piemonte. However, I can enthusiastically say that Lake Viverone, has captivated even my critical taste-- His surrounding landscape is so charming and picture perfect, yet, strangely unknown, compared to more well-advertised destinations such as Lake Garda. This Lake and the Hills and villages around it deserves all the praise and publicity! History, exquisite cuisine, hiking, biking, and water sports in the summer are all available here. In the Fall, it is peaceful and for artists wanting to look for inspiration for a painting. Indeed, picture perfect!

Beautiful lake with amazing surrounding
We love the Viverone lake...we even prefer it than the Como lake (too many tourists and crowds).... Just 1hour far from Milan, this beautiful lake surrounded by the moraine offers awesome panoramas and peace. We practise water sports there - it is the place of wake boarding ( with the boat.). In the villages around you can find the great kitchen of Piemonte.
