Nice little beach with great views and Italian bar
If you are staying at the west side of Lago Maggiore around the Verbania area and are looking for a place to go to the beach and swim, this beach at Lago Mergozzo is the place. It is only a 20 min. drive from Verbania, the physical address to find this beach is Via Montorfano, 26, 28802 Montorfano VB. Parking can be a hassle but the beach is definitely worth it. It's a grassy beach , the water is very clear and you get wonderful views of the Swiss apes and the quaint little town of Mergozzo. The typical Italian coffee bar at the beach just adds to this experience. You can rent pedal boats and they have bathrooms! This is a unique, not-touristy place. Plan on lunch or dinner at Mergozzo, a beautiful, small Italian town overlooking Lago Mergozzo from the North.

Loved the lake
Beautifully clean water. Great for swimming snd other water activities. Opposite busy area are some nice cliffs to jump into lake. Can also recommend hike up Mountains near by.

Far better waters than Lago Maggiore waters
Old fashioned shores, ugly “beaches” and smelly/dirty waters on the West bank of Lago Maggiore led us to look for better waters in the area during our stay in this hot and stuffy summer 2020. Don’t look too far! We found the perfect spot : Lago di Mergozzo, far from Baveno for a 15mn drive. Clear water, grass beaches, sun and treas shade... Enjoy!
