A remarkable visit back in history
This house is kept in an amazingly good condition and is filled with furniture and general household items from back in the days. It is like a walk back in history. You get a very good idea of the life in those days. It's well worth walking around the house to see its great design from different angles. It's also amazing how cool and nice the inside of the house is, even though the temperature outside was on the higher side. A testimony to the very good ventilation. There is a 30 Baht entrance fee (same for both locals and foreigners). The staffs at the reception were very informative and helpful. They also sell some good nice looking locally made clothes. Definitely a place not to be missed.

Remembrance of an elegant life style
This large house retains the furnishings of its bygone era, lending it a serene and elegant atmosphere. Photos of the old family abound, as do relics of its dual influences, ancient Thai (betel nut sets, floor cushions) and European (sit-down dining table, porcelain tea sets). Most striking was the realisation that the house was brilliantly built for the humid tropics. We were there on a blistering hot day (in the cool season!!), but the rooms, with their high ceilings, teak floors, and through breezes, remained tolerable even without fans or air-conditioning.
