Khum Chao Luang, Phrae Province, Thailand

4.5 (56 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Phrae Historic Sites

One of must visiting places in Phrae.

The 2 storey gingerbread style luxurious vintage building with gracefully light green engraved wooden doors, windows, and eaves was once a residence of the last lord of Phrae. The place was free entrance. It is undoubtedly a very good place to stroll around taking some photos, watching some antique furnitures, and learning history of Phrae. Highly recommend ! P.S. There's also an old dark dungeon which was used to imprison slaves (so creepy).

    1902 end of an era
Fascinating insight into life over 120 years ago. The flight of the Prince into exile in Laos and tensions between Siam, the French and the British.

Brought us back to another era
We felt like we were in another time zone walking through the living quarters of a noble family. Every room was preserved with furnishings (and even clothes, dressing tables ,and personal items of the former occupants.) . The house is also a very interesting architectural structure.
