Lago Lolog, Patagonia, Argentina

4.5 (589 reviews) Spent Ranking #8 in Province of Neuquen Bodies of Water

Beautiful

Went on a family excursion on a Sunday. 1/2 of San Martin was there. The lake is up a dirt road 12 kilometers from town. Lower section of lake not much shade at the beaches. Drove 8 kilometers around lake to the national forest. Paid 140 pesos to enter camp ground (day pass). Lots of shade and beautiful trees. Accessed the lake and enjoyed rocky beaches. Very quiet and peaceful. Our boys loved the water. Small kiosk at campsite serving food and beer. Highly recommended for a day trip from San Martin

Must do the hike to the beach and lookout
Fantastic views and a clear water beach await you on this lake. Despite the mountains, it's cold but just swimmable for some.

    Great fly fishing.
My guide (Alejandro Buchanen - who I heartily recommend) took my brother-in -law and I out on this lake for a day of fishing. In my over fifty years of fly fishing , this day ranks in the top two or three of my most memorable days. We caught fish after fish in the 16- 21" range (Rainbows and Browns ), with numerous doubles. All were caught on dries, and much of it was sight fishing. The scenery is outstanding, and if you get a good guide like Alejandro who really knows the lake, you have a good chance of getting great fishing. But its probably unrealistic to always expect it to be as good as we had.
