It’s the view from my hotel!
I absolutely forgot to mention in my El Calafate hotel review that it’s the view of my hotel Los Hielos. It’s actually the selling point of the hotel, but honestly it wasn’t necessary since the service and hospitality was very excellent. Lago Argentino is indeed beautiful. It was a coincidence that the town was celebrating the day it was found when I stayed in the hotel too. They said famous singers had a concert —not that I know any of them.

    Beautiful, huge, windswept lake
We stayed 3 nights in El Calafate and visited Argentina’s Los Glaciers National Park. There were many views of this vast lake with its great mountains on the west end. We then took a bus to El Chalten and drove the entire south shore and around the east end. It appears to be chilly and very windy much of the time. As cold and windy as it was, it attracted parasails that waved at high speeds across the lake.
