Funny, but not a Gold Standart Skiing
A nice place! And we do had fun, but for those experienced skiers, that is not the spot because of the bad snow quality (wet?!)! Eventhough, the village is gorgeous and in a sunny winter day, the view is very nice as well. Clues overcrowded by beginner skiers might also be a problem if you really want to practise by yourself.

Skiiing in Patagonia - Cerro Caterdal
Visited San Carlos d. Bariloche fm August 16-21, 2008. Skied at Cerro Caterdal 5 days. The ski area is approximately 14km outside of the town and has very good bus service or you can take a taxi to the slopes. Caterdal has a tram and a 4 person gondola to take you up the mountian as well as a 6 person chair. However, most of the chairs are slower two and three person chairs. Argentina has school holidays during August, and the slopes were very crowded. There are several on mtn restaruants to choose from. You can rent everything you would need to ski from boots, skis, poles to hats, gloves, ski jacket and pants. The lower mountain did not have very good snow coverage but they do have snow making equipment. The best in bounds terrain is up top with the best terrain accessed off the Nubes quad. The views from the top are very nice. Beware fo the cat tracks that traverse the mtn. They are not always well marked and you could suffer injury if you are not paying attention. Several skiers crashed onto cat tracks during the days on the slopes. The grooming is not the best. They just don't do a good job of making nice corduroy groomers. You can buy multi day passes for the mountain. A one day pass is about $42.
