Nate Saint House, Pastaza Province, Ecuador

4.5 (7 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #1 in Shell Speciality Museums

From horrible situation to wonderful outcome

I met with two of the curators, Chet and Katie and they told me the story of how the families of murdered missionaries turned the whole community around from revenge killings to cooperation. Time well spent.

Interesting house that is full of history
Knowing the story of the 5 men martyred in 1956, we have a special interest in the house the pilot, Nate Saint, and his family occupied. There are many pictures, some artifacts from long ago and a small display with Indian handicrafts that are for sale. If you call ahead you can even get a short history explained to you.

    Excellent stop!
We have visited the house many times over the years and love it every time. The tours are given by different people with varying experiences, so no tour is exactly the same. See the radio used by the Saints and Elliots, look over personal items, maps and more in the old home. Visit the gift shop (inside the home) and support the locals while obtaining souvenirs of excellent craftsmanship . Make a donation to support local missions. Leave having had a bit of history come more alive!
