Relax with boat and fishes
With entire family we decided to buy a "cruise" over Laguna El Oconal. 4 soles per person for one hour wasn't a big expense. Also after that you could get free (hands and feets) peeling done by small fishes, which were located close to "harbor". Boat navigation gave us a lot of fun + we could observer many interesting parts of flora and fauna. If you want to fully relax, do not hesitate to visit this place

Worth it!
We really enjoyed the visit. Both times we went there, we didn't take a tour as it is really close to the downtown (about a 15 min walk) and it's pretty safe as we have been told by the locals. Through the road you may also find places where you can buy food so that is not a problem, although remember to always keep your trash until you go back to your hotel or place. The lagoon is huge and beautiful, and you can either take a boat to visit by yourself (about 5 soles / 1.5 USD) for 20 mins or have someone else (a local tourist guide) accompany you for the same time but a higher price (20 soles / 5 USD). I took the first option as the second one didn't seem the right price/quality even though other people took the second option they were not as surprised afterwards. You can take as much photos as you want in the lagoon but DO NOT TAKE OR DAMAGE THE LOTTUS FLOWERS. If you do, you will be held responsible for nature damage and receive a penalty of over 20K USD. Also, take in account the locals do want to protect their attractions so they won't hold back in telling the authorities about your behaviour. In summary, the visit to the lagoon was easily accesible, cheap, beautiful, and you could do it whenever you want without the bother of having too much people. I totally recommend it! P.S: if you go to the lagoon, by the shore there's also a place where small fish will clean the skin from your feet, it is free and a nice experience to take home
