    Such a beautiful area
This is such a stunning area. Amazing views of MT Hood and great hikes abound. We drove up to Timberline Lodge and there was still plenty of snow around. I recommend walking a part of the Pacific Crest trail from the hotel to the saddle of Zig Zag Canyon, a there and back hike of 4.5 miles and not very difficult. Wonderful views and you are very close to Mt Hood. First time I've walked across numerous large patches of snow in the middle of July. There was also a chairlift running if you want to get higher up the mountain. There were a fair number of skiers and snowboarders. We also did the hike to Mirtor Lake (reviewed separately) which is easily access from a large parking area about 10 mins drive before you get to the Lodge and also recommended.

    Stunning
My husband and I took a half a day trip to Mount Hood and fell in love with the area. It was a Friday morning and there was minimal cars around to ruin the experience. We randomly found a pull off a for Trillium Lake which offered one of the most beautiful sights you can see. Once you leave the National Forest area, you are in in area with vineyards and orchards. Of course, they also have ski lodges and such that you can go to in Mount Hood if you're into that. It's a beautiful drive and definitely recommended.
