A perfect road trip experience from California!

My wife really wanted to visit the PW Mercantile, so on her 50th birthday, we had a road trip from California and had an overnight stopover in Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo then Pawhuska. We stayed at the Frontier Hotel because the PW Boarding House was fully booked but our room was even special because it has the view of the Mercantile Store. The next day we went early to have our breakfast and was seated by the restaurant hostess (she is unpleasant). The food was good and my wife was ready to shop but she finds it a little bit disappointing because she did not meet her expectations to be wowed. While we were shopping, a nice lady, Mona, greeted us and we had a little chat and took some photos with her. Our overall experience was still great and we did enjoy our time at the Merc, the Lodge, P-town, Charlies and Pawhuska.

    Great Stop on Pawhuska Tour!
What a fun place to visit! The shop itself isn't very big but there are so many items to look at. There is a restaurant roped off on the first floor (in addition to the shop itself) and the second floor has a coffee shop and bakery. The items for sale in the mercantile store are geared towards western themed items. Not all items are Pioneer Women merchandise, but there is something for everyone. My young children found the stuffed animals, my mom found a cute mug, and I found something for my husband. We arrived in Pawhuska around 10:45am and the Mercantile was already packed so be sure to arrive early or later on in the day if you would like to visit with less crowds. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Lodge Tours. Be sure to ask for Lodge Tour tickets before you leave!

    After Christmas Shopping
Busy bustling on the Tuesday after Christmas. Parking was ample and the store was very busy but not overcrowded as I had heard horror stories from relatives who had been before. Wide selection of PW products ranging from kids toys to cookware to clothing items. The wait for the restaurant was 1 hour + even at 11:00am so we went to the nearby Pizza place instead (still a 20 minute wait). Glad to see the worth that this business has brought in and the huge economic & cultural impact it has made on the community of Pawhuska. The bakery cafe upstairs was great!
