Excellent place!
I was looking for historical books on Guthrie and was told to go to the museum. Not only was it east to find, easy to park and beautiful to boot, the woman working there on 6/25/22 was very helpful. We talked for awhile as I was looking for a book. She ended up giving me a second book about Elmer McCuardy for free as "you might need a second book for your long trip." The book is fabulous by the way!

Largest historical sight with 19th century buildings in the United States
There has been a novel published recently which takes place in 1899 Guthrie. When you read the novel and walk the streets of the town, you can see the accuracy of the town's description. "The Canary Cage" is a real depiction of the activities in the town around the turn of the 20th century. the Characters are fiction, but the town is real. Scenes of many movies are shot in this town, because of it's historical buildings. "Rain man", "Twister" and others have scenes from this town. Had a great two day stay here. Plenty of history.

Exceptional Oklahoma Land Rush Exhibit
History buffs interested in details of the Oklahoma land rush era must visit this collection. The staff is professional and helpful. Very well presented exhibits of U.S. Marshalls of the Territory, pioneer families, outlaws, Carrie Nation, and Sooners bring the colorful, unique time in Oklahoma history to life.
