    Great day...EXCEPT
We had a wonderful day at this beautiful zoo: fed the giraffes, rode the carousel, saw a polar bear, hippos, penguins, beautiful fish -- petted some stingrays! All lovely, EXCEPT the food is mediocre for the high prices and the bottled water ($4.00) very expensive. The website states you aren't allowed to bring in outside food or beverages...yikes! Bathroom water faucets put out either HOT water, or a trickle of cold. For the expense, drinking water and wash water needs to be easier to access.

    A Beautiful Zoo
We visited the zoo on the way back from a trip in Sandusky. We were easily able to use our discount from having a membership at another zoo, and parking was free on the Monday that we visited. Lots of animals out and very close, though some of the habitats looked a bit small for the type of animal being housed there. The surroundings were beautiful, and the harvest decorations were very well done. This zoo has a unique layout with half of the zoo on one side of the freeway and the other on the other side, with a covered bridge connecting the two. Ramps and elevators are available. Our 1-year old enjoyed seeing the animals, as did we. The downside was the website was not accurate in terms of saying which eateries were open, and since you can't bring your own food in, we really wanted to find somewhere we could eat. When we finally did find an open eatery, the food was just average or sub-par and way too expensive. That would be our only negative about the trip. Otherwise, a beautiful zoo and lots of great picture opportunities.
