Perfect day for the zoo
My husband and I visited the zoo while we were in town for the day, on a Thursday, and it was not that busy. It was our first time there. The Asian Lantern Festival was going on during this time, so there were lots of displays around the grounds. We were there during the day time, though, so they were not lit. We enjoyed spending the afternoon walking around. The offered an all inclusive pass for $24 which included the train, carousel, and discounts at the gift shop and to feed the animals. At this time, not sure if it was due to covid, or that it was September, but most of the snack stands and shops throughout the zoo were closed. There are a lot of great places for photos, especially with the extra displays at this time. The staff was nice. I also recommend checking out the 4D movie to cool off during your trip. It was also interesting to see the animal vetting area. There were a few displays closed for work, but no biggie, still plenty to see.

A nice zoo
We really enjoyed visiting this zoo. The animals seemed well cared for and the enclosures were nice. We visited on a Monday and failed to realize that the zoo is free for locals on that day. It was very crowded. But nice to see so many families enjoying the zoo. I am used to the Columbus zoo, which has a lot of docents and other personnel around. This Cleveland zoo suffers a bit from too few staff I think. I noticed many overflowing trash cans. Lots of people including us a few times confused about where we were on the map, which is kind of vague. No one to answer questions. This is the only reason I didn't give the zoo an 'excellent'. I hope to visit again sometime to see the animals we did not get to see because we ran out of time.
