Great lake and views!
Gaube Lake is located in Pont d'Espagne zone, in French Pyrenees, in the South of Spain. In fact, when you enter to the Pont d'Espagne place, it is possible doing an excursion to arrive to the lake or catching a cableway. We decided to do the excursion (about 1h by walk) and really it was great! you can see very good views of the mountains and especially, when you arrive to the lake, it is wonderful! and also you can surround it and see great views from the other side! Really an indispensable walk! A top in Pyrenees! (see also Pont d'Espagne, Chemin des Cascades, Cascade du Lutour, Cascade du Cerisey)

Wonderful - shame about the bar staff!!!
The Lac du Gaube is stunningly beautiful and well worth the two cable cars and 15 minute walk to get to it. I have been here quite a number of times and every time the sheer beauty astounds me. The air is so fresh and high over the mountains we saw eagles circling. A totally wonderful day. One little niggle! The bar will take card but it is useful to have cash because they can't always get a connection. We didn't have any cash, ordered drinks and then saw the signs - and the connection was bad that day and we couldn't pay!! The barman was rude and offensive. He corrected me, rightly so, for forgetting to wear my mask in the bar - but wasn't wearing one himself all the time and didn't correct others. His hands were also dirty and he picked up ice and placed it into my partner's drink. When I corrected him again he was rude and unpleasant. Perhaps it was a good thing we couldn't have the drinks given the awful hygiene demonstrated. We were not put off though. We shall return - but have cash or our own drinks with us!!!
