Hopefully you can visit on a day without tour busses! Even so, you will have a lot of company. During COVID the site was renovated with large crowds in mind - observation platform, etc. Attractive and well done. The light is small, but beautifully situated on a massive granite outcropping. To my mind, the little fishing cove adjacent is more picturesque and charming. I feel the spot is overrated - many less crowded and more beautiful places in Nova Scotia. But well worth a visit. We spent most of the day at Louisbourg Fortress and then wandered over to the lighthouse just before we left. We regret not having more time here! You cannot go into the lighthouse but it is still worth seeing. There are great views of the fortress but even better views of the bay. The power of the waves hitting the rocks is incredible!. One of the best places to see Parrsboro's High Tides. Also, when the tide is low where else can you walk on the ocean floor, look for beach glass and maybe lucky enough to find some local minerals. Very relaxing, great place to spend the day.See more..

Though Black Rock Lighthouse is of the "newer-type" tower and light beacon, don't let that detract you from thinking less of this particular one. The lighthouse is being very well cared-for, with fresh paint and an appropriately manicured landscape. It overlooks the Bay of Fundy, and you can see Northwest Nova Scotia across the saltwater. Behind the lighthouse are two fantastic cottages/homes, both of which are likewise feature immaculate care. If you visit on a windy day at high tide, you will be treated to quite a show of seawater being pounded against the surf (though not nearly as violent as Peggy's Cove), which offer plenty of photo ops. But my favourite visit was during a calm evening, as the sun was setting, and the tide was still low... that is when you can get down on the beach and appreciate the rock formations, the fissures, the cliff faces and driftwood. It is also when, if on a beautiful weekend evening in the Fall, you will find small gatherings of jovial, responsible people enjoying the trails or a camp fire on the beach. This is an absolutely beautiful stop and a place I highly recommend you visit. I thought I was doing to die driving the steep mud "trail". Was definately not expecting that! An adrenaline rush for sure but not in a good way. Walk it. DO NOT DRIVE. I have a jeep and the is no way a sedan would make it. Pretty sure I damaged my jeep. There was a huge root sticking out of the bottom. Glad to be alive to tell the tale.See more..
