Longest Wooden Pier in Europe
Took the train from Gdansk city centre to Sopot to walk the pier and visit the city. Lovely day on the pier with amazing views of the Baltic Sea and the Sopot beaches. The Sopot pier is the longest wooden pier in Europe at 511m. There is a slight charge to enter, costing 8 zloty per person. The city was crowded with visitors but the pier was not. Nice long walk to the end of the pier offering views of the beaches and once out on the pier, views of the Grand Hotel. Looks historic from afar. The pier offers a few boat trips, one high speed and the other looking like a massive pirate ship. Worth the 20 minute train ride from city centre which cost 8.20 zloty per person.

Paid to access the pier
Visited Sopot from Gdańsk via the train. A really pretty place with a lot going on. Visited on labour day so was extremely busy. Large selection of restaurants, bars and cafes and a lot of lovely architecture. It’s free to access the beach but we also paid 10 zloty to access the marina, the longest in Europe at 511m. Bought a padlock to fasten to the bridge and enjoyed the sightseeing. Definitely worth a day trip.

Nice long pier - free in winter!
Pier is the longest wooden pier in Europe. Leads on to the marina wall now but a nice long walk down and back with plenty of seating and buskers along the way. Restaurant and toilets at the end but looked a little pricey so that, combined with the fresh and chilly breeze that was blowing across the outdoor seating area deterred us from venturing in. There is an entry fee in summer but this ends in September for the winter so if you come out of season, you can enjoy the walk for free.
