Great museum

Really good museum with great exhibits and information about them. The highlight of the visit is that all personel speak English and could, when we visited additional activities, told us all about. And all personel was really helpful and nice in that regard. Nice addition to the museum is interactivity platforms, to show something extra. We went to all: simulator, 3D karika (gyroscope), seat in both planes, and VR experience. Unfortumatelly Zipline did not work, as it only works on weekends, we came there on Thursday. Gift shop is a nice place to get a gift or memory merchendise for children or adults. The downsize of the VR experience is the quality of the content, as it could be better. And content more perfected, to add extra touch to it (vrsolution.si). Otherwise it can be a great day trip for families, children or couples.

A well laid out museum of great representation of the Hungarian air power during both the Soviet era and present day.
From the old museum at the Szolnok air base to this new purpose built museum in town is a complete transformation. Well laid out and covering most aspects of Hungarian military aviation. The artifacts are well restored with both indoor and outside displays. Still some larger exhibits to be moved and that may be a problem due to space. Overall very impressed. They also offer free entry to over seventies and a reduced discout for over 65's.

A great museum with lots to see and do.
I have always been interested in all things aviation and visited the old museum in Szolnok 2 years ago. Since that time the museum has been rehoused and relocated more centrally to Szolnok. It is a relatively short walk from the train station and you do pass a lovely coffee shop on the way. I woud estimate that it is probably just under 1 mile from the train station. A the museum there is a mix on military helicopters, jet fighters, utility aircraft, gliders and jet trainers. Other attractions are miltary vehicles and armaments. When I visited the attraction there were 35 aircraft on display with a further 17 aircraft to join them by June 2017. There is a shop, cafe and cloak room on site. There is a large in door and out door play area on site as well as ample free car parking. Other attractions include 4 cockpit Mig 29 multi role combat aircraft simulators which you can try prior to buying tokens. On hand is a guy called Zoltan who is and ex hungarian Mig 29 fighter pilot who is friendly and informative and will show you how the simulators operate. There is also a 4D experience which you pay extra for one experience is a fight in a Yak 52 trainer aircraft and the other is a parachute jump over Lake Balaton. The museum is closed on a Monday and is open 10:00am to 18:00 for the rest of the week with last admisions at 17:30. The entry price for adults is 2000 ft for adults in the week, rising to 2500 at the weekend. Children are admitted for free. All staff we met were friendly and helpful.
