Boat is special, but so are other exhibits

This Yigal Alon Museum owned and run by Kibbutz Ginnosar offers worthwhile and interesting archeological and art exhibits in addition to the superb exhibition of the conservation of this 2000 year old Galilee Boat also known at the “Jesus Boat”. Watch the movie about discovering the boat and then its conservation and restoration; then look at the boat and read the informational panels. In addition to the Galilee Boat the museum has a range of interesting displays including the Magdala stone, the Samson mosaic sign, Mishnah and Talmudic period exhibits, and more.

Small museum - definitely worth a stop
We enjoyed our stop at this small museum. The highlight is an ancient boat that was discovered nearby in the mud at the Sea of Galilee. The boat was carefully excavated and eventually transported to this museum. To see it was quite amazing as was learning about how it was found and recovered, a truly amazing feat. The setting is also very nice - right on the Sea of Galilee.

    Purpose built museum
The museum is set in an impressive building next to the jetty for trips on the lake. There is a cafe and useful gift shop selling local produce. An ancient boat is on display for additional cost although you can catch a glimpse inside the exhibition if you stand in front of the exit doors.
