Gria Vathra is "must" for Samothraki island. Wear comfortable shoes, take water in a backpack and just wander around. Waterfalls, small breezy lakes to swim and many climbing routes!!! Anytime you visit it you can find something new. If you want to visit the highest vathra you have to climb through some difficult parts for an amateur walker but it is worth it! It would be good if you were accompanied by someone who had already visited the place because the routes aren't perfectly signed. However, in any case there are many visitors you can follow. Nature nature nature!

Unbelievable beauty with step lagoons and cascading waterfalls
Unbelievable fresh water experience in a small island at north aegean. The island of Samothraki, where the famous Niki statue at the museum of the Louvre in Paris is from, is easily accessible from the Greek northeast city of Alexandroupolis, an hour away from Athens airport. The island offers three kinds of water experience within close proximity one another. The fresh water streams of Paradeisos, Gria Vathra and Fonias with the step lagoons and cascading waterfalls offer a unique fresh water experience although some walking and good natural physique will be required for those who wish to try. The sea beaches of Pahia Ammos and Kepos at the west and east sides of the island, respectively, offer the saltwater experience whilst the springs at Therma offer the hot water one.

Waterfall
Take nice walk via lovely shaded woodland along river bed for about half an hour and you reach Gria Vathra Waterfall and pool. Very cold water. Carry on further up side of mountain to reach other Waterfalls in gorge. Take note must be experienced at hiking and wearing stout footwear as path is uneven in places.
