Serene Sauna Stopover
My sister and I loved visiting this spot. We spent a long weekend in Haarlem and took a quick train ride (15 minutes to travel to Santpoor-Zuid). As Americans we are not used to visiting public (and co-ed) places in our birthday suits, but this is a typical Netherlands practice and we very quickly got used to the idea. On top of that, the interior was spectacular - clean, well-designed, and beautiful. For the price of the entry, you get bathrobe, slippers and towels. Each of the sauna rooms, within the main complex, offers a different experience, infra-red, herbal baths, cold room, etc. The main pool is also lovely and provides a nice transition spot between the various smaller rooms. The price for two (about 80 Euros) seemed very reasonable. Although we traveled back to Haarlem for dinner, we could have stayed for a bite to eat or booked a room at the Sauna's own hotel. If you walk from the train station (about 10 minutes to the sauna) don't neglect to stop and explore the local castle - although I think it is only open Wed and Sundays. We were lucky and able to sneak in for a quick visit because a couple were taking wedding photos. All in all, the whole visit was a perfect way to celebrate my sister's birthday.

Una delle saune che preferisco.
It is one of my preferred saunas in the country. The interior is very well designed and refined. The swimming pool, which is indoor, is not big, because the sauna is not big; however, it has several up-to-date facilities, and an outside garden. The sauna Ridderrode is an elegant and cosy place that I recommend, also for a romantic day.
