Well preserved ruin of what once was a great castle
Close to the hotel Duin and Kruidberg there is the ruin of the Castle Brederode. The castle can be visited during some part of the year, during a few days of the week (wednesday until sunday). The skeleton of the main building is still in tact, in fact a lot of the walls are in such a state that you can have an excellent idea of what this castle must have looked like (till it was destroyed in 1573 by the Spanish). I went here with my niece and nephew and we found it all quite enjoyable and interesting.

    Concert in a dramatic setting
We went to visit the castle during a concert of Americana music band. It was a super nice atmosphere with good music in a superb setting. The ruins are good accessible with a good story line. This makes it very much worth the visit. Nearby are some places to get lunch or diner. It is a shame the shop here only has some coffee and cake. Maybe it is good though....
