Beautiful Painting on the Wall
We visited Hoorn for a concert. We had a chance to go around in the town centre before the concert. This church is not far from the town square. The door was open so we went inside and took a minute silence. There is a corner where you can burn a candle and pray and was very serene. The painting on the wall is beautiful. Other part of the church is closed when there is no services.

Beautiful historic church
I was surprised by the beauty of this old church (build in 1882) that still is being used (Catholic). In fact this is the Saint Cyriacus and Francis Church, known for its remarkable ‘dome’ (in Dutch: ‘koepel’). It has spectacular window glasses all around and beautiful art. This church has a rich history and was saved (financially) by a Foundation (the ‘Dome Church Foundation of Hoorn) established around 1985. It is this Foundation that has facilitated many of the restorations that have occurred in the last decades. There is no doubt that this Foundation has succeeded at ‘saving’ this beautiful church. Definitely worth visiting (free).

Old Church in Town
Our cruise director has arranged a private concert for us in Koepelkerk of Willemstad during our visit there on 13 April. This Reformed Protestant Church was built in 1607 in this Dutch province. There was a large dome and many nice stained glass windows inside. Most of the structure was of timber. By the way, the organ play was nice. This church was not far from the harbor and could easily be found while walking along the main street there.
