The beaches at IJmuiden aan Zee can be reached by bus from Amsterdam Sloterdijk railway station and Haarlem railway station.A scenic bike-ride through the nature reserve"Kennemer Duinen"is a great way to enjoy the various sights of this area.The large industrial complex "Hoogovens" is just north of the beaches,the view towards the south is more scenic.

Spacious beach
A spaceous and not too crowded beach with a few restaurants. There is easy parking right near the beach and also a bus stop for those coming by bus.

Gorgeous (raw) beach
The beach at Ijmuiden may not be the sophisticated beach, but in its rawness is it absolutely spectacular, especially on stormy days. It definitely is not busy and has large beaches. It closeness to the 'noordzeekanaal' makes for extra fun as you see many ships of all sizes (including the occasional cruise ship), enter or exit the waterway leading to Amsterdam. This is one of those hidden gems.
