Lovely Dutch market
This should be the #1 attraction in Volendam in the TripAdvisor. This marked is very authentic and very Dutch. Even if it is tourist oriented, it is lovely and the food on the streets is cheap and very tasteful. Additionally, the area is so beautiful and charming, seems your are enter into a movie.

Best poffertjes
We visited the Nederlands in April for King's Day and stayed few days in Volendam, great place to go! Amongst all the stores in the village the Hollandse Markt was the best. The owner is very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful person, he prepares the poffertjes on demand so they are always super fresh and delicious. My favorite topping is syrup but there are different topping choices all very good. My husband thought he lost his wallet somewhere while in Volendam (instead it was stolen, police found it in Dusseldorf Germany few months later) anyway, the owner took alot of time looking all over his store in case it was there. In the end he offered us free poffertjes to "share the loss" even if there was no money lost, only credit cards and documents. It was such a nice gesture. Highly recommended store for poffertjes and other things at affordable prices.

Pancakes and Chit chat with owner both rewarding
We stopped in here for the little pancakes and I had a coffee. The owner was friendly and told the story of how he came to,use the particular flour in question for the pancakes. Cute place and worth a drop in. Bon appetit!
