The Castle of Swanenburg - Sugar Factory - Sugar City

Gemenelandshuis Swanenburg (1645) was also called the Castle of Swanenburg. This building was the meeting hall to use for water management of the IJ ( river ) and the Haarlem Lake in 1645. And in 1863 it became a sugar factory until 1991. The facade is decorated with beautiful Heraldic shields of the Water Board members of Gemeenlandshuis Zwanenburg in 1646. It is now a Sugar City, a site with an event location and offices in Halfweg.
