Lovely venue

We stayed for here 2 nights and enjoyed the facilities and golf. The hotel is beautiful and our room was amazing with a personal sauna and jacuzzi. The golf course is fabulous and the practice facilities are great. Butler service was included and there were a few pleasant surprises - I won’t list them here so as not to ruin the surprise for other guests! Food all good and nice service throughout although, for the price, we were surprised out golf clubs weren’t cleaned after the rounds (Euro 1,200 per night including breakfast, golf and dinner with wines). It’s a great place for a celebration.

    What a joy.....
it was the fourth time I was invited for 18 holes of golf and a much appreciated lunch at The Duke. The Clubhouse, the 18 holes course, the service...absolutely fantastic. There's in The Netherlands no other clubhouse like the one at the Duke. Fabulous. Just one thing.... If you have such a great club, with everything on it, why don't you have better wines and more variety in wine prices per glass and bottles. It is not that special compared with the rest....It is not up to The Duke overall standard.

    Round with client
After driving through the gates and being greeted by the butler, the afternoon could begin. The car park was packed with all sorts of automobiles (porsche, audi, rolls royce etc) always very impressive to see at a golfclub i think. The clubhouse was extremely impressive (a resemblence to the Dutch golfclub clubhouse one could say) and once through the doors we were met by a very business like lady behind the counter who welcomed us and kindly gave us two keys to the very chic locker rooms. First coffee on the very nice terrace and then a few balls on the driving range to warm up and then onto the first tee. The course was in ok condition, i had expected more due to the reputation of the Duke as the greens were rather lumpy and not particularly quick but hopefully this would improve as the round went on. A very nice and friendly lay out was discovered with a lot of par 4s under the 350 meters which lends to a course that compliments the handicap and performances, however the score still has to be made. Unfortunately the greens did not improve during the 2 nd nine as they had been pricked, but a enjoyable round was had. After finishing just in time before darkness set in,it was time for a well earned shower and drink and then dinner. After a superb shower the terrace called and a table was found and the first well earned beverage was served. A starter of carpaccio was ordered, followed up with the steak which were both excellent ( which is more than i can say about the arrogant manners of one of the young waiters) very condescending tone of voice and a very rude look on the face, this i did not expect from a club like the Duke. All in all a very pleasant day out with very good company. I look forward to playing the course again when the greens are in better condition, as it doesnt quite justify the €150 green fee.
