Nice for kids but grumpy farmer
Son had a good time exploring and playing. Entry fee very reasonable, they don’t charge parents which we found strange as most other kids activities we visited in NL charge both kids and adults. Son was quite keen to take a photo with a real farmer. The man we assumed to be the farmer was looking so grumpy though we didn’t dare ask. Not a smile to be seen, which was a shame. We had lunch there, sliced bread was old and stale and so dry that we ended up not eating it. Rest was ok. Overall pricing little high for what it was. When we tried to give son a packet of almond milk we brought with us, farmer approached and quite sternly told us it was not allowed. Started a session on how high his cost was and how terrible we were for coming there and bringing our own food to an F&B outlet. Our experience in NL so far had been that even restaurants when asked, don’t mind small children eating some of their own food or drink, with parents eating from the menu. So this was a bit off-putting. We cut short the visit, paid our 25 euro food bill and gave our son his almond milk in the car. But son overall had a fun few hours and they certainly lived up to the stereotype of “botte boer” (grumpy farmer).
