Keelung is a deep-water harbour, it provided access to northern Taiwan for centuries. Keelung is the major port for northern Taiwan. Keelung is now an important port for international cruise ships. It is regarded as being part of the Taipei metropolitan area. It's known as "Rainy Port" because of its rainy skies.
