Whites Minerals and Mining Museum, New South Wales, Australia

Quirky and really good tour

Run by a lovely husband and wife team and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were just in time to join a ‘tour’ which was both funny and informative. Loved the mine ‘cutout/displays’ as Kevin ‘Bushy’ took us through various aspects of the hard life below ground with first-hand knowledge from his time working in the mines. He is also an amazing artist creating pictures made from crushed up local minerals; very time-consuming and great work. We then checked out Betty’s collections of teddy bears, etc. Yeah, I have found someone who has more bears than me . Great place to check out.

An infortaining place to visit and learn history
I could mark Mr White's museum as if not the most, one of the most important places to see in Broken Hill. The amount of Knowledge he has is unmatched and his attempt at reconstruction of old mining techniques is tremendous. He also has a massive collection of art work done by himself and a doll collection from his wife Mrs White. The place is very welcoming and genuine. My wife and I learned a lot from him and I couldn't resist myself from buying a piece of art from him.

    Interesting, informative, entertaining tour
I’m glad we visited this Museum in Broken Hill. An interactive tour by a former miner, designed for all age groups. We learnt about the changes in mining scenario in Broken Hill, & it’s impact on the people over ages. There is a souvenir & jewelry shop which has some unique stuff. The soft toy collection is very appealing to the kids. It’s best to call to confirm the tour timings before arriving.
